Kindergarten to Year 6
Secondary to Year 10
Supplementary Courses/Additional Studies
Our classes are committed to equality and opportunity, to the original spark of every child, to the wonderful triumph of every small and large step forward. We want our students to be intellectually curious, responsive and persistent, enriched by possibilities in the love of learning.
The College curriculum meets all the requirements of the NSW Board of Studies. Students in Kindergarten to Year 6 pursue the same Key Learning Areas as their peers in other schools.
Because the College has a primary and secondary structure, students in early years benefit from the expertise of secondary specialist teachers and facilities.
There are six key Learning Areas and these have been defined by the Board of Studies.
In addition we offer our girls and boys further learning opportunities with classes in:
The School Certificate is generally awarded to eligible students after four years of secondary school. In Years 7 to 10 students study a variety of courses to qualify for the award of the School Certificate. As well as taking the necessary combination of courses, they are also required to apply themselves satisfactorily to their studies.
To complete a course of study for the School Certificate, students must have a satisfactory record of application (effort) and are also required to sit for the School Certificate Tests in English - literacy, Mathematics, Computer Skills, Science and Australian History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship.
Mandatory Courses
In qualifying, over the four years leading up to the School Certificate, students must satisfactorily complete the mandatory curriculum requirements of the Board of Studies:
In addition to the mandatory Board of Studies courses for the award of School Certificate, students of the Manning Valley Anglican College also study a further two categories of courses being Additional Studies and Supplementary Courses.
(a) Additional Studies
Students have the choice of Additional Studies courses and are required to take 400 hours of study in these courses during Years 9 and 10. It is a Board requirement that at least one subject is studied throughout both Years 9 and 10 as a 200 hour course of study.
